with barrel traps you can tell if you have him and even how well you have caught him by the angle of the arm as it sits out the soil

You are doing better than me at the moment; the ground is like iron down here and times are hard.....

thats why ive stuck to drillings its a bit fluffy-er! that and long silage grass it seems to hold the water better all the mown off stuff is like you say hard as iron, no good like. works slow hear at the min just the odd call out to mown off stuff

well done mate...............that bottom pic of fence snare you might want to lift wire up a fraction to allow hare to get its feet through, you might get a body catch there ;)

yeah it looks that way looking back I pulled 4 rabbits from 11 snares none knocked, there were hares using these runs too and I wanted some for the pot and the farmer wanted then off the drillings.

Great pictures of mole trapping. I am always amazed at how many moles there are in the UK, the populations seem a lot higher than what we have here.

What's with hanging the dead moles on the fences over there? Is that for the farmers to see them, or is that just an old tradition amongst mole trappers in the UK?

hi steve its both free advertising too, i once caught over 300 moles for two neighboring farmers both brothers.and neither could believe they has such numbers on each farm and as at the time i was not hanging them on fences they both got in their heads that i was taking both sets of moles to both farms and getting paid twice.....robbing them in short.. so refused to pay me.

now i ether hand them on the fences ( if people get upset tough!) of leave each and every days with the farmer in person to dispose of himself, needless to say most like them hanging on a fence( roadside preferd)
